Within the network of global pineapple producers, Agroamerica is recognized as one of the largest and leading growers in the industry. The company has about 750 employees and approximately 1.300 hectares of plantations in Guatemala and Costa Rica.

Agroamerica, a worldwide industry leader in fresh fruit, sells its pineapples to many different prestigious brands. The pineapples grown in Costa Rica and Guatemala are sold to Fyffes, Europe’s largest distributor of fruits and vegetables. Chiquita and Dole Fresh Fruits International buy the pineapples grown in Guatemala.

Agroamerica’s pineapple production is certified by EUROGAP, now known as GLOBALGAP. This is a private organization “that sets voluntary standards for the certification of agricultural products around the globe.” These standards were designed primarily to provide confidence to the consumer concerning the safety of the food they are eating and the welfare of the workers on the farms where the fruit was grown.
