Palm Oil

Within the network of global pineapple producers, Agroamerica is recognized as one of the largest and leading growers in the industry. The company has about 750 employees and approximately 1,300 hectares of plantations in Guatemala and Costa Rica.

In Guatemala, there is an extractor plant and plantations of approximately 9,000 hectares of African palms. The plant has the capacity to produce crude palm oil (CPO) and crude palm kernel oil (CPKO).

Agroaceite has approximately 1,000 hectares of African palms and runs its own extractor plant that manufactures vegetable oil for the Mexican market.

Uses for Palm Oil

Palm oil is derived from both the seed and the fruit of the African palm tree. Once processed, the products of the palm are used in the food industry (over 50%), as an important component of soaps and cosmetics, as animal feed, and more recently, in the production of biofuels.
